How should I prepare for my first EMS session?Hydrate well the day before and the day of your session. EMS stimulates your muscles deeply, and being well-hydrated helps with performance and recovery. Eat a light, balanced meal about 1–2 hours before your session—something with protein and healthy carbs is ideal. Training on an empty stomach isn’t recommended. Come with your goals in mind. Your trainer will walk through what you're hoping to achieve and tailor the session accordingly. And don’t worry—we’ll guide you through everything when you arrive so you feel totally prepared and confident.
-
How much time should I set aside for my first appointment?Plan for about 45–60 minutes for your initial session. This includes consultation, equipment fitting, a medical waiver review, and a full-body EMS workout. Future sessions will take around 20–30 minutes.
-
What should I wear?Wear something comfortable. We provide clean EMS undergarments for each session — no need to bring your own. You may perform the training with grip socks, sneakers, or barefoot.
-
Do I need to fill out any forms before training?Yes — all clients must complete a medical waiver before beginning their first session.
-
Should I eat before my session?Yes — we recommend eating a light meal or snack 1 to 2 hours before your workout. Avoid coming in fasted or overly full.
-
How should I hydrate before training?Hydration is key! Drink plenty of water throughout the day, and have at least 16 oz (about 500ml) of water an hour or two before your session.
-
What is EMS training?EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) uses low-frequency electrical impulses to activate your muscles more effectively than traditional workouts. It’s a full-body workout in just 20 minutes.
-
Is EMS training safe?Yes — EMS is FDA-cleared and widely used in sports medicine and physical therapy. Our sessions are guided by certified professionals and tailored to your comfort level.
-
How is EMS different from a traditional workout?EMS engages over 90% of your muscle fibers simultaneously. A 20-minute EMS session can feel like 90+ minutes at the gym — without the joint strain or long recovery.
-
Will this help me lose weight?Yes—EMS can be an effective tool for weight loss, but the best way to measure your results is through body measurements and how your clothes fit, rather than just the scale. That’s because while you're losing fat, you're also gaining lean muscle—which is a good thing. EMS helps activate deep muscle groups, boosting your metabolism and calorie burn even after the session ends. That said, the biggest impact comes when EMS is paired with solid nutrition and healthy daily habits. It’s about consistent, incremental changes that lead to real, lasting results.
-
Can I do another workout the same day?We don’t recommend doing another weightlifting or high-intensity workout on the same day as your EMS session. While EMS sessions are short, they stimulate deeper muscle fibers more effectively than traditional training, and your body needs time to recover. To get the best results, it’s important that your muscles are fresh going into the session—not depleted from earlier workouts. Likewise, we recommend avoiding heavy strength training for 1–3 days after EMS to allow for proper recovery. If you’re looking to stay active the same day, light movement is great. We suggest a walk, low-impact cardio, Lagree, or something restorative like yoga. Most importantly, always listen to your body—and skip EMS if your muscles are already fatigued from recent workouts.
-
Can I weight train and also do EMS?Yes—EMS can be a powerful complement to your weight training routine. In fact, we encourage clients to incorporate a variety of fitness modalities to support well-rounded strength, mobility, and endurance. However, because EMS activates deep muscle fibers at a high intensity, it’s important to allow for proper recovery. We recommend taking 1–3 days off of heavy weight training after an EMS session to give your muscles sufficient time to repair and grow. Overtraining can hinder results and increase the risk of injury. Your trainer can help you build a routine that integrates EMS with your other workouts in a way that supports recovery, performance, and your specific goals.
-
Who is EMS for?EMS is for anyone looking to train smarter—not just harder. Whether you're a busy professional, a fitness enthusiast, or someone returning to exercise after time off, EMS can help you build strength, improve tone, and accelerate results in a fraction of the time. It’s especially great for: People with tight schedules who want efficient workouts Those looking to lose fat and build lean muscle Athletes wanting to break through performance plateaus Individuals recovering from injuries or with joint limitations Anyone wanting to supplement or enhance their current fitness routine Because EMS is low-impact yet high-intensity, it’s accessible to most fitness levels—and every session is personalized to your body and your goals.
-
Can I do EMS even if I'm new to working out?No prior experience is needed at all—EMS is designed to be safe and effective for all fitness levels. Whether you're just starting out, getting back into a routine, or already active, EMS training is fully guided and customized by a certified trainer to match your individual needs and goals. Each session is low-impact, making it gentle on joints, yet incredibly efficient in activating muscle fibers. So whether you're looking to build strength, tone up, or boost overall wellness, EMS meets you right where you are and grows with you.
-
Is there and age limit for EMS training?EMS is FDA approved for adults 21 and older. However, individuals aged 16 and up may participate with parental consent and a parent or guardian present during the session. There’s no upper age limit—as long as you’re in good health, EMS can be a great option for maintaining strength, mobility, and overall fitness at any age. That said, certain medical conditions may prevent someone from qualifying for EMS training. Please refer to the "Who should not do EMS?" section in our Health & Safety FAQs for more details.
-
Are pets allowed during EMS sessions?Absolutely—we love pets, and they’re more than welcome to be around during your session! That said, EMS equipment is highly sensitive and includes cables, stands, and devices that can be easily disrupted. If your pet is likely to jump up on you or the equipment, we kindly ask that they be kept out of the training area during the session to ensure safety and avoid damage. Please note that clients are responsible for any equipment damage caused by unmanaged pets. We want your session to be safe, smooth, and stress-free—for you and your furry friend!
-
Does EMS hurt? No—EMS should never be painful. Most people describe the sensation as a gentle pulsing or tingling in the muscles, similar to a deep muscle contraction. It may feel unusual at first, especially if you’re new to it, but it’s not painful. Your trainer will carefully guide you through the session, adjusting the intensity to match your comfort level and gradually increasing it as your body adapts. The goal is effective muscle activation—not discomfort. Most clients say they feel energized and refreshed afterward!
-
How long is a session? Each session lasts around 20 minutes, with optional warm-up and cooldown periods.
-
How often should I do EMS training? We typically recommend starting with 1 session per week for the first 8–10 weeks. This allows your body to adapt to the deep muscle activation EMS provides, while still giving your muscles ample time to recover. For some clients—depending on goals, recovery, and lifestyle—1–2 sessions per week may be ideal. Your trainer will assess your fitness level and objectives during your first session and recommend a schedule that aligns with your goals, whether that’s fat loss, muscle building, or overall conditioning.
-
Do I need to bring anything?Nope — we provide all gear and come to you.
-
What if I need to cancel or re-scheduleWe understand that things come up! If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee. Cancellations within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment will incur a $40 fee. Rescheduling within 3 hours of your session or once your trainer is already en route will result in a reschedule fee to compensate for time and travel. We appreciate your understanding and commitment to keeping our schedule running smoothly!

-
Can I do another workout the same day?We don’t recommend doing another weightlifting or high-intensity workout on the same day as your EMS session. -
Why is hydration especially important for EMS?Hydration is essential before and after EMS training because of how deeply EMS activates your muscles. EMS stimulates more muscle fibers than traditional workouts, which can lead to elevated creatine kinase (CK) levels—a normal response to intense muscular activity. CK is an enzyme released when muscle fibers break down, and while some elevation is expected, staying well-hydrated helps your body flush out excess CK and reduce the risk of muscle fatigue or prolonged soreness. Proper hydration also: Enhances muscle performance by improving electrical conductivity during the session Supports recovery, reducing soreness and inflammation Maintains energy levels and helps prevent cramping We recommend drinking water consistently the day before, the day of, and the day after your EMS session to help your body perform and recover optimally.
